Large White - Pieris brassicae

By Mendipman
Every year we plant Nasturtiums in pots to encourage the butterflies to lay eggs, each year we have plenty of caterpillars which then crawl off to pupate, often on to the wall of the house and under the windowsills, however this one decided that the underside of one of the patio chairs would make a good spot, I only noticed it when the butterfly had emerged so must have been there for at least a couple of weeks.

Only managed a couple of shots with butterfly and pupa case before the butterfly moved out of frame.

Best viewed large.

Many thanks for the votes and comments on the previous upload of the Paper Wasp and especially to Andro (eyelevelphotographyuk) and Somnath (clicknimagine) for your User Awards, so very much appreciated. GrinGrinGrinGrin

An exquisite image---and so unusual to show both the pupa and butterfly. The pupa case is beautiful!
