Laurel Hill Cemetery #8

Did I mention that this is a very hilly cemetery? And this set is of the views from the cemetery overlooking the Schuylkill River and Kelly Drive (named after the local and famous Philadelphia Kelly family..Olympic rowers and an actress and Princess). In the background, across the river is Martin Luther King Drive, traditionally the other drive (other than I 76, the Interstate) to get from NW Philly to Center City. They would close, from April to November on weekends for recreational use..cyclists, runners, bladers, and lots of families....when the pandemic hit, the Mayor closed it And so it has been now for over a year....and with the end in sight, we do not want to give it back for cars. It is a 4-5 mile stretch that is a joy to ride with lovely scenery of Fairmont Park and the River.

Snowed today over lunch time---

Lovely for the graves. to have such a fine view! We have a cemetery here that offers a view of the turnpike!
Further to what Taggart said, the problem with a cemetery with a view is 50 years later they build a turnpike - like my friend who bought a condo with a view of Halifax (Nova Scotia) harbour and they build another condo between him and the harbour. And with climate change my old bones could be floating down that river soon enough.

I visited Pisco in Peru 2 years after an 8+ earthquake ripped the town and the cemetery apart ... I'm not sure a final resting place actually exists.

Sorry, but your images do invoke comments and make us think and IMHO that's what photography should do.

Comments are welcome, Dora. Was Pisco where that very fine drink of the same name was invented? I have been to Peru twice (once to adopt my daughter). I think it may be one of the most beautiful countries in the world. When i first joined EPZ, Peru was my first series.

Perhaps one good outcome of the pandemic should they remain closed.
