Leaf insect

By ColleenA
The Spiny leaf insect is a species of stick insect. They belong to a well camouflaged group of insects called phasmids. They appear more like dead leaves than sticks. They blend in well and are generally hard to spot. Their diet is fresh foliage. They are found in Northern New South Wales and QueenslandMany thanks for your votes comments and user awards all much appreciated
Monday is 43 deg C in Melbourne and other parts of Australia. The bush fires are out of control again. 30,000 holiday makers in Gippsland have been told to pack up and go home. A huge Music festival has also been cancelled. There is a chance that the Sydney fireworks will be cancelled due to high fire warnings

You did well to spot this Colleen. Excellent shot.
The world's climate has gone mad and it is difficult to realise the magnitude of the disaster from news reports. I hope you are in a safe location and that the rains come soon to all affected areas.

A superb image and a fascinating commentary. I hope you are safe; we watch news reports of the fires on the TV on a daily basis and with a mounting sense of horror.
