Leaning On A Lamp Post

By TrevBatWCC
Getting back from Peel into Douglas, where we were staying, had a bit of a wander around before going back to the hotel.
Like Norman Wisdom, the Wigan born actor, singer-songwriter and comedian George Formby had associations with the Isle of Man. He became known through his films of the 1930s and 1940s, and the film 'No Limit' was a 1935 British musical comedy starring George. The film was made on location at the TT motorcycle race on the Isle of Man.
This statue of George Formby clad in motorcycling leathers is located at the corner of Ridgeway Street and Lord Street. It draws its inspiration from the song 'Leaning On A Lamp Post', composed by Noel Gay and sung most famously by George, and was created by Manx sculptor Amanda Barton.
To help pass a bit of time away, had a fiddle around with the image with a bit of selective colouring! 😃

Just as long as he didn't play his ukulele while riding the bike! Worse than today's drivers using a mobile phone!

The selective colour works well here Trev.
At first, I thought this was an aviation pilot!
Was watching a programme late last night
