Nice shot but I prefer Willie's mod with more space in front of the dancer.

Welcome to the Critique Gallery, I think this is your first upload for critique. You've been on the site a long time, and uploading to the Modifications Gallery, so I guess you know what we are about here.

This is attractive. The modification that I have uploaded is purely a cosmetic change. My feeling on opening this was that somehow the sense of verticality, of space beneath the dancer's feet, is absent. It could at first sight be an overhead view of a model lying on the ground. The frame reinforces the verticality for me.

So sorry Jeremy, I forgot to add a comment. I did the mod late last night, thats my excuse.

The action is well caught, and it looks quite dynamic.

Settings are sensible, though ISO 800 suggests the lighting was low. A smaller aperture would be preferred, but you would need more light power.

Adding space on one side can help. I dont know if the background was all white and you used post processing to ass pink, or more likely its light shining through the red.

The colour of her legs are quite different from her arms, and it may be worthwhile matching the legs.

I have sharpened this, and increased overall exposure in the mod.

How weird! I uploaded a mod, and thought I'd added comments... As well as a welcome, of course!

Group shoots are hard work, and sharing lighting is a problem. The EXIF data suggests continuous lighting, rather than studio flash, which would freeze the action at any shutter speed, and probably allow a smaller aperture, with lower ISO.

The big problem is the uneven lighting on the background - I've had a go at it with the dodge tool. What do you reckon?

Is this flash or ambient? It is quite good although it is a bit soft and I suspect movement. Flash would give an effective higher shutter speed than the synch speed depending on the units and flash duration.

The colour of the legs is a touch strange. Is she wearing tights? I think so.

Thanks for the comments and mods guys it gives me plenty to think about when getting the other images ready to post. Those of you who noticed it was without the flash the trigger rotated round the group (with the abilty to direct) and I carried on shotting at a high iso to see what would result. I will have to think of how I showed the hieght that she gained. Hope you like the other dance orientated images I will post.

Thanks for the feedback: and I'd do the same with raising the ISO and shooting without the flash. The disadvantages of group work - but it's worth it for the support, and the reduction in cost!

And yes! You definitely showed the height.
