Left To Rot

By jeanie
Up early this morning and taken up to Fleetwood to get down onto the mudflats to photograph these abandoned wrecks ..
We had to wait for weeks for the tide to be right, but the sunrise was not as kind as it could have been for us.
Simon really knows how to show a girl a good time - got a tour of Fleetwood docks after we'd finished here : )

3.2 secs @ F/18, 121s grad, Wellies (first time this autumn yay!), tripod and mirror lock-up/remote cable.

Great detail and wonderful composition - I really like the textures in the boat hulls.

A wonderful composition and I think the sky adds to the broodiness and subject of the shot.

Do you know, this is a really lovely image. It's subdued, but by no means mundane; tip-top. Well done.

You're right it is a bit special but I think the best bit about it is my MiniTrekker that I can see.

Oh, and are those my legs/wellies behind too ?

Jeanie is offering a prize for the first - sorry second - person to point it out

To add to what Nick wrote, I never realized that 'wellies' are part of a list of photographic equipment! So how did these boats get here onto relatively dry land? (despite the claimed use of wellies, this does look like dry land!)

Oh, about the photo.... You did choose a good time of day to capture this scene. The light is at a good angle and there is a lot to see.

Thanks Thomas, Nick, Walter, Patrick, Joseph and Malcolm..

The land is most definitely not dry - lots of suction underfoot when the tide is right out and when the tide is in, the boats are surrounded by water... in fact a couple of photographers were recently caught out by the tide (they forgot to alter the tide times for BST) and ended up on top of one of the boats and stuck there for 2 hours, waiting for the tide to recede.
Being on the estuary of the river, you really have to keep an eye on the tide. Wellies are essential, hence adding them to the tech spec lol!

This is a cracking shot of some old wrecks. The presentation and colour is stunning and well worth the wait. I think the lighting is good. but I can see where your coming from. just a tad more sunlight would have giving these old boats that added wow!
Lovely work.

Quote:Wellies are essential..

LOL! You'd probably say that in the middle of the desert!

If it gets REALLY muddy, can you stack them like ND grads? Or maybe use longer ones? Kinda like 'zoom' wellies? What about camouflage wellies for bird photography? Oh, the possibiities are endless!
