Leh Castle

By logomomo
This shot was taken at 20mm on Fuji Velvia.

Leh in Ladakh is situated 3500m above sea level. The town is dominated by Leh Castle which itself is dominated by a monastery [pictured]. Prayer flags run from a nearby peak up to the stupa.

It's quite a walk to the top, the thinness of the air doesn't help, neither does the loose scree slope but once you're up there it's difficult to come down...

As you can see it was quite windy and the crystal clear air and beautiful sunshine give great movement and colour to the already vibrant prayer flags.
