Leopard crawl

By ColleenA
Good morning from a sunny Cape Town...a winter temp of 21 deg today...
Once again thanks for all your votes and comments and to Netta for her UA.
This is an image of a leopard quietly creeping up on unsuspecting Impala grazing some 100 metres away. Unfortunately she was unsuccessful. The bush as you can see was incredibly dense and she could not get a clear run at them. It took our Tracker 2 hours to find her. Not easy in the thick African bush
V2 is just another image of the leopard I thought I would share.

Have a great Monday... we have a Public holiday in South Africa so another lazy day ahead for me.GrinGrin

I noticed the eyes too, they are really lovely (mind you as long as they are not looking straight at you).
Wonderful shot. Your images are really worthy of a coffee table book of the beautiful animals you have on the reserve.

Do they stalk by themselves?

Yes Barbara, Leopard tend to hunt alone unless they have grown up youngsters. We have seen grown brothers hunt together but mostly you see them alone. Leopard will always drag their kill up a tree to protect it from other predators. Lion are known to hunt together.

Beautifully captured, but still scary.....luckily, the closest thing to leopards in Manchester is the leopard print on clothes that are fashionable at the moment......! V1 for me as in V2 the tail is cropped off....sorry!
Kind regards

Thanks for your comment Angela regarding V2....I should just mention that the leopard was so close to us at that point that my 70-300 lens could not fit her into the frame.... I could have squashed her in but then in photography one has to leave space in front of the animal. I uploaded it because it showed her eyes and face so well.
