What a great find for £3 Janet. Yes I remember one like this at school. Our local ice cream in the 1950s was from a tatty old van with with a very distorted speaker, scratchily belting out ‘who wants an ice cream?’, nothing so subtle as a bell!
I think there’s much symbolism behind this image if it’s sought. Bell, keys, little pink and purple ‘rockets’ (moon-rocket symbols?) Ringing out world changes perhaps. I’ll just get me coat 😎

Love the bell (memories from my early schooldays too) and the splashes of colour in the string on tge keys and the crayons, the just out of focus book title and marbles imply fading memories of lessons and break time game; keys pointing to an unknown future?
A very nostalgic arrangement, Janet.

Years ago we were gifted with an old ship's bell--which we painted and had hung at the back door--- Now--our Amish neighbors have built a school across the creek complete with a belfy and bell---
Curiously--the ring tone is identical to the ships bell---and now I am wondering if the teacher has a hand bell as well---
As to the image--seems many already have shared memories!

This reminds me of a lovely teacher I had at infant school, if you were really good and helped the teacher with a task at playtime she would let you ring the bell when it was time to go back inside, everyone used to volunteer to help just to get a chance to ring the bell.
I can't see that happening today somehow, probably not of interest to the children or 'Health and Safety' would not allow it 🙄
