Lest We Forget

By teocali
Hill 62, Sanctuary Wood, Ypres .
V1 is a digitally manipulated image of a tree, blasted during trench warfare at Ypres in WW1. Station 62 is a tribute to those of the Allied Forces who lost their lives there. Please visit the link in this description if you have time - if you ever visit the area, this museum is absolutely fascinating and very poignant.
V2 - V6 are out-of-camera captures of the tree and reconstructed trenches in the area.

Thank you all for your C&Cs on my last upload - really appreciated.

A fine set and very well worked on V1 Sylvia. I ponder on uploading an image like this every year, but to me every day is a remembrance to my very close friends who fell in battle, on both sides of the fence as you know.
A very fitting tribute on this day.

Well manipulated in V1 Sylvia, with the path leading into the unknown...perfect, and a good set to follow on with, as said, a very fitting tribute for today

A lovely tribute Sylvia to all those who have made the final sacrifice for their country; and I include those of ALL nations.
A visit to these battlefields should be at the top of everyones ' to do ' list . Its the best way that I know of to remind people that it should never be allowed to happen again.
" They shall grow not old,as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Hi Sylvia, grat shots, Istore loads of useless imformation as you know, the british lost more horses than troops, to regain a village 5 miles distance ,a man was lost every 2 paces, when we placed mines in tunnels under the germans it took over a year by hand to dig them 450 tons high explosive in 17 tunnels exploding at 1 second intervals, the largest pc of bone you can find at these sites is only half an inch regards gray.
