The man in the Version is the owner of the Leyland or Austin Princess . Both versions of the name was used here in Finland.
These pics were taken yesterday afternoon at the Nummela airfield.

My wife's Father had one of these, nick named the "aircraft carrier" due to size and wallowing, slow driving characteristics. Thank goodness these are no more.

A freind's father had one of these and I had a lift in it on occasion. It was the first time I'd seen a rev counter in a car Smile

A brave and striking design: and with almost as much carrying capacity as an aircraft carrier... My father-in-law had the successor, an Austin Ambassador, with the largest rear hatch I think I've ever seen (the Princess had a conventional boot). I remember borrowing it to tow a trailer once: it was perfectly capable of hustling along, even with a chest freezer behind it.

Hydragas suspension gave a very civilised ride for passengers - remember, Ford were only just graduating from cart springs at the time!
