Life's Return

By Hop-A-Long
Hi Everyone

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year.
We had a great time and the usual went on, to much to eat, well it was Christmas.

Anyway, this is a shot from a trip to Blyth with a friend.
I love the way nature always seems to find a way, no matter what it is or what material it is made from if neglected for long enough nature begins to take over.
What I also find interesting is that this timber was once a living thing, it stood in a field or a wood for many years with the wind blowing through its limbs, giving shelter and a home to creatures of all shapes and sizes, totally unaware that one day it would be removed from the wonderful place it stood and milled into an uninteresting beam to build a structure which would stand strong and be battered by the cold winds that blow from the North sea, devoid of the life it once enjoyed.
Finally a solitary seed blew in on the cold wind and found a small crevice to shelter in upon the beam. Eventually as time went by life began again and the seed grew into a plant. The timber once again gave protection and a home to something living.
Is this merely that life goes on or is it evidence that there is life after death.

I hope you enjoy this, thanks for looking, any comments are always welcome.

A fine mono working Andy, and a fine narrative too with your wood, plants and seeds.
But the poor old nut and bolt does not get a mention though !!
A fine shot.

I like the way you've condensed a bigger story into a few details - b&w is perfect.
And think I know to within a few feet where this was taken, I got this there.

I think grass seeds are one of the most persistent and pervasive life-forms Smile
Nicely composed and lovely b&w.

I might have seen this and walked right by. I may have seen this and taken a shot. But you have seen and taken the image, making it something special by converting to b&w. Brilliantly done!
