Light and Shade II

By marktc
Good morning all,
Well I'm afraid that this is my last offering for a while, I'm clean out of new images and I'm not going to recycle any more after today.

This is a different crop from the one last week and I've tried to sharpen up the detail in the planks and tried to make the line of the shadows from roof and first lamp run into the bottom left corner, without presenting a barrier into the image.

Probably going to be 3/4 weeks at least before I'll start posting, but will keep on checking in with you all!

Thanks for looking and to all those that have clicked or commented on recent uploads, was very pleased that so many of you liked the piers yesterday.

A special thanks to Quoise, Lillian and Walter for your recent UA's, as always much appreciated and PM's sent.

Just had another look at the original colour and I like how you've tightened up this composition. There's a bit of noise in the sky area on my monitor but otherwise an excellent version.

The mono version looks great, it's really brought out the textures in the decking.

The shadow of the lamp and the corner shadow do make a pleasing line.
Great feeling of distance with your perspective.
Sorry your repair is going to take so long.

Absolutely stunning Mark the DOF work is superb as is the detail, I love the side lighting casting those shadows, you do get that sense of scale with the lamp post on their own but those people add that extra detail and scale, the wooden decking really act as a great lead-in, I has seen many image of this pier some in colour but I think that the b/w choice is fabulous , right for the subject and the lighting conditions, first class piece of b/w photography!

Just spotted this in your PF Mark. Can't believe I missed this one. Quite simply one of the best images I have seen on epz.
The composition is just about flawless. The central position of the shelter the planking and the receding light stanchions all leading the eye through. What also makes this so special is the angle of the shadow both from the shelter and the lamp post on the right which are in perfect harmony with the angle of the shelters roof. I would be very very pleased to have taken this.
