Excellent. The reality of the scene needs no help, nor does your rendition.
Love it. Wouldn't change a thing.

hi kate, this is to tell that i feel none of the modifications are better than your image.. reason: in your image, the foreground is dull and the contrast between it and the bright horizon is good enough to make an impact.. the problem with all the mods are that they are making the foreground too bright, and they are more sharp as well and destroy the mood somewhat...
one thing though, if your background is white, it lessens the drama of that distant light a bit.. a suitable frame (mostly black) would have enhanced the drama there.. it is almost as good as many posted here, just that tad bit less in drama because of the white background.. a frame was a necessity here.. or a darker background.. my personal view..

no i take my comments back.. this is fine.. aesthetic, more serene and harmonious which addition of dark background or frame could destroy.. it is perfect. Smile

By the way I totally agree with peekay2001, the mods totally destroy the atmosphere i talked about.

I absolutely agree with Parnab and gary... three of the four mods destroy what you were aiming for and in my opinion they are insensitive and actually look horrendous. I just didn't want to be the first to say it ( feeling a bit cowardly today BlushBlush )
Cliff's mod isn't so bad, except I can't actually figure out what he's done, and he doesn't say.

Your original is the definitive statement here.

Alan

P.S. I note that "Paintman" in spite of uploading a mod, has neither voted nor commented.

In view of Alan's comment on my own yesterday, I did not want to be the first by any means to comment today, but once again I feel you have captured the scene very much as you witnessed it, and I see that he seems to feel the same.
Very well composed confer jour seascape, with good f/g structure and detail.
Very nicely done, I'd say.

Please don't be offended, Ronnie. As I said yesterday, we all have our own preferences and I respect yours even though I might not have agreed with it on that occasion, and preferred Kate's image after it had been slightly "dolled up." But it so happens that today I do agree. I think it's good to have some flexibility in one's opinions, it allows for personal growth. Smile

Just catching up, so I've got the benefit of seeing the mods, which on the whole I don't go for.
Something half way between yours and Paintman's is as far as I'd go Smile

A very atmospheric beachscape, you've captured the mood perfectly. I agree with Gary that your original is miles better than the mods
