Light up the sky!

By Japes
This was taken during a recent Fireworks Championship at Stanford Hall and was one of many images taken that evening. Whilst the camera settings stayed pretty much the same throughout the event the timing of the shot was a matter of anticipating when the rockets would explode in mid air and this became easier as the competition wore on.

Outstanding when compared to what we usually get. Your modus operandi is noted for future use. Super fine display. TG

Thanks guys,

I must emphasise that I shot in RAW as it enabled me to pull out more detail in Lightroom by playing around with the exposure, highlights, shadows, white and black sliders. Final tweaks were a touch of sharpening and just a smidgen of clarity.

I also took a few 10 second exposures but they looked like explosions in a fireworks factory as there was so much going on - spectacular but didn't lend themselves to creating decent images as there were lots of blown highlights that I could do nothing with.

Fireworks that look like flowers in the sky ... wonderful stuff, Japes Grin
