Roker Pier in Sunderland, Tyne & Wear.
One of the few piers on the North East Coast, that are solid built, (unlike Whitby which is partially on pylons as is Saltburn), and it is not protected by jutting out headlands. It receives the full blast of a Northerley in spectacular style. It can be photographed either from the roadside at Roker promenade or you can drive right onto the beach nearly where there are car parking facilities.

Great wave action and I like the seagull which looks as if it is surfing the wave. This would also look good in b&w.

Superb, John - those waves in all their froth and fury are particularly striking. I was wondering whether the lighthouse was leaning a little perhaps, but even if it is then who cares in an image like this?

Thank you everyone who has taken up their valuable time to comment on my phot of the lighthouse. I feel after your support and encouragement that I would not be fair if I did not do the B/W as some of you sugget. So the b/w is for tomorrow.
