Lights of South Queensferry

By photowanderer
A cloudless, frosty winter night is best for this sort of photography. Otherwise the clouds will reflect back the glow of the street lights and the sky will be a brownish orange colour instead of dark blue. I Photographed this same scene back in December. Then, a 1 second exposure at f4 and ISO 160 came out quite under exposed, but I managed to increase the brightness in the RAW development. In the event, thanks to RAW, there is very little difference between the jpegs from the 1 second exposure and this 2.5 second one. However, 2.5 seconds is about right for f4 and ISO 160 and I'm going to use that as my standard setting.
