I am trying to make out what that is between the back of the books and the skull - are they small keys? Perhaps superfluous as they aren't very visible (or is it merely my monitor/eyes/light?).
The yellowed light caused by the candle is very appropriate.

Yep ,nothing wrong with your eyesight Malc. Superfluous ? dunno, difficult to decide what stays and what goes, what anything adds or detracts to/from an image, adds to the 'story' or not ? what each item means...you should have seen the stuff I started with !

And the petals blew in on the wind where a moth was floating. Which nearly put out the candle which caused smoke. So the moth backed off. Everything is kept safe by the Holy Cross. It's lovely Janet and well composed.
