Nice detail and light on the Lilly Liz. Like you I cant make up my mind if the background is a tad bright or if it enhances the Lilly.I suppose its the way you look at this image. As is Liz it works very well and is quite lovely.

No No, this is artistic, I like the way curvy petal takes centre stage, it would leave room for a greeting if you wanted one.

First impression was of a Starfish Liz(g) On the thumbnail I mean LOL. I may have the answer to what your feelings are? Perhaps the border itself is too wide, the result being, a much larger white area than is needed? Hence the white dumbs down the flower itself...am I making sense? Only a thought!
Love the crop and the image itself.
