Lincoln Castle, Prison and Cathedral

By Owdman
Lincoln Castle, free to enter, but a charge to walk around the walls. The brick building is the prison (now a museum), the tower on the motte to the right is the Lucy Tower, which contains the graves of the criminals who were hung at the castle. The castle is unusual; as it had two mottes, the other can be seen just in front of the cathedral. The castle has a long history and holds one of the four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta.

A super panoramic capture of the castle here, Norm 👍 Had a great day out here back in August 2015, very busy with lots going off and people in medieval costume. Saw the Magna Carta too! Pity you weren't allowed to photograph it, but it was in a very darkened room anyway 😃
