We were spell-bound watching two males returning to the family one morning a few years ago and this lioness was keeping careful watch. (This one is for Steve who has been so very kind about my African images.)

Lionesses (who do most of the hunting) blend very well with tall, yellow-topped grass.
Sometimes, it's difficult to spot them in such an environment.
You did well to do so and were quite close (57mm f/l), so would have been an enchanting moment for you.
