Little and large

By AngelaR
Two more beech trees here for you today. First to be seen was this lovely weeping beech - about 7 or 8 foot high - a man could just stand underneath the branches without damaging it.

And to follow will be a contrasting second one - 30 feet perhaps (I'm not good at estimating these things!). This too weeps to the ground, so must be quite old by Kew standards - at one side they have constructed a support over the pathway to take the branches so people can walk underneath.

Hope you like this pair from Kew - please look large. Comments and crits welcome - many thanks to you all.

Version 1 is extraordinary, never seen anything like this, and the picture doesn't really indicate the true scale!

Two wonderful shots - I can just imagine children playing under the first one. The second one I love, as I always enjoy looking up at trees and seeing the sky through the leaves - I find it hard to get them to look just as I see them, but this one works really well.

Thank you all for the comments.

Anne - not just the children, I know the height 'cos my 6'3" son and his girlfriend disappeared in there! But I missed their exit, so took this instead Smile
