Living Treasure

By Nic_WA
This is Jack Williams, Aboriginal Elder for this part of Australia, and who was recently named a "Living Treasure" by the Western Australian Government.

The town's bush regeneration group was working today in a special place for the local Noongar Aboriginals and Jack was there to conduct a traditional "Welcome To Country" ceremony. This was taken afterwards as we wandered through the forest with him learning about bush tucker. Thanks for looking.

Edit: I don't often say this, but bigger's better to appreciate the twinkle in his eyes Smile

Great portrait. I like the strong highlights in his face which play together most fascinatingly with the white beard hairs and the skin that's seen a lot of sun. Great eyes, true. And I appreciate the description, good to have some context. Regards, Bert

We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love... and then we return home.
His eyes have witnessed it all Nic
