Thanks for an early morning chuckle and memory jog. Fog on the Tyne was a song Laing liked. He knew the words perfectly, and like a naughty school boy brought certain lines to the fore from the usual singalong sotto voce!

Thanks folks. We knew the Lindisfarne guys in the early 1970's. We had a flat on Clairmont Road in Newcastle, Alan and Ray Laidlaw had a mate called Terry, a window-cleaner who lived in a basement flat just along the road from us. We all used to meet up in the North Terrace Inn. Just very normal blokes. Alan didn't like being beaten at darts by a woman.
