Generally speaking images benefit from it, I think this one does but there are many times when it doesnt work or isn't strictly necessary. Where is your evidence of a slope? The reflections of the hills and clouds seem to be directly below the original object, give or take the breaking up of the reflection in the choppy surface. That indicates that the camera is straight or close to it. Yes, the shoreline is a slightly diagonal line in the photograph but there really is no reason why it has to be horizontal. If you don't believe me, stand facing directly at a straight edge such as a shelf, window frame or the opposite side of a road. Hold a ruler parallel to that edge. Now turn your body to the side, moving the ruler with you so it stays horizontal. Note that it no longer appears parallel to the straight edge. The ruler represents a horizontal line in the photograph; the straight thing represents the lakeshore.
