Quote:I will read more on RoT, your right, lots of people advise to ignore!
I wouldn't suggest that you ignore it but I'd certainly suggest you remain flexible regarding when to use it.
Generally speaking images benefit from it, I think this one does but there are many times when it doesnt work or isn't strictly necessary.
I think that both the mods. above work compositionally, yet only one is true to the RoT.

Where is your evidence of a slope? The reflections of the hills and clouds seem to be directly below the original object, give or take the breaking up of the reflection in the choppy surface. That indicates that the camera is straight or close to it. Yes, the shoreline is a slightly diagonal line in the photograph but there really is no reason why it has to be horizontal. If you don't believe me, stand facing directly at a straight edge such as a shelf, window frame or the opposite side of a road. Hold a ruler parallel to that edge. Now turn your body to the side, moving the ruler with you so it stays horizontal. Note that it no longer appears parallel to the straight edge. The ruler represents a horizontal line in the photograph; the straight thing represents the lakeshore.
There are two horizons that should be straight in a photograph: one is the one between a body of water (the sea or a lake large enough to extend beyond the horizon) and the air; the other is between flat land and the sky. Neither applies here.

Not keen on this new format as yet. May grow on me. Like the mods to be there alongside the original - change for changes sake?
This is basically quite nice, but mod 2 sorts things out a lot. You need a heavy top and bottom crop to letterbox - but don't mind the central composition at all. Mono works well here to, and the sepia is OK by me.
