Loch's Last Light

By almiles
I do like a bit of alliteration! Loch an Eilein, outlet burn, about an hour before sunset. This is such a heavily photographed area so having dragged my kids around the loch looking for new PoVs, we got nearly full circle before finding this location. I think the main rock in the burn could do with being moved to a less central position but despite what Dave (whiterose1) thinks, I don't move foreground stones! Wink The view is hemmed in by shrubbery on either side of the frame and the bridge spars through which this was shot so comp options were a bit limited (plus we were already late home!). I did try a photoshop change in rock position but my skills are not equal to the task.
I lost my lens cap during this shot in all my haste, it's probably a long way downstream by now!

Aliteration goes down well with me too, Alan: and what I like about this shot is the contrast between the darkness and turbulence in the f/g with the calm sunny beyond, as you say nicely framed by the darker foliage.
The big rock centrally placed looks OK to me as there is flow on either side on the diagonal.
Nice one.
Ronnie.

Fantastic light on the castle and the famous pine tree, you were a lot luckier than a visit in 2009 when I shot this version...https://www.ephotozine.com/user/scottishlandscapes-23846/gallery/photo/winter-s-chill----12535109

Warm light, white water, not windy. Wonderful wilderness, Al.

Had to play the alliterative card here because Ronnie summed up the critique perfectly.

Nice image. The cool effect of the silky flowing water against the warming tones upstream and on to the distant hills.

Great shot al , did u have all the kids with you , if so that would make this photo an even greater achievement knowing how demanding your tribe are, your probably lucky the lens cap was the only thing that went in the drink .
