Lockdown Labours

By Minty805
Looking for things to due during the lockdown, giving the car its annual wash and brush-up seemed unavoidable, on the drive and safely away from any passers-by, of course.
It's surprising what good exercise washing and polishing a car is, with all that bending and stretching; I probably should do it more often.
Having done it, and with the sun glinting off paintwork where muck used to be, it seemed a wasted opportunity not to take a few shots, and play about with them a bit. The rear windows have privacy glass, but I darkened them further to remove distracting reflections; same for the windscreen. Dropping out the background and substituting a black layer, plus a reflection of the car and a few tweaks and that was about it.
As always, any thoughts on how it might have been done better always very welcome.
Thanks for looking and stay safe.
Allan

On looking at the thumbnail, I thought it was a small model! It's the viewpoint I suppose... 😁 NIce car, and a nice bit of polishing up there, Allan 👍

It seems a shame after all that labour not to take a picture! Hope the battery still works after all the sitting about?

The only time I wish I had something smaller than the Range Rover, is when I have to wash and polish it...Wink
Good work, Allan - both the car and the photography.
I think, only think, mind, that a wee bit of a shine on the rear privacy glass would add a little extra...

Thanks Trev. Taken from an upstairs window - it was either that or a low angle, which picked up too much distracting reflection to remove.

Thanks Pablo. I had a product shot in mind, so that's good to hear. The old bus might be five years old, but still comes up well.

Starts first time, Ian. We've used it for supermarket trips, unlike Management's car, in which the battery was completely dead, so we had to buy a trickle charger to get it going again.

Thanks Malc. That's a good point; it does look a little unnatural without any sort of reflection. After polishing it, I was very glad I didn't have anything bigger ...

Loves labours lustre ... as dear old William Whatsisname didn't write ... as far as we know!
Cracking job and you've put me to shame. It's time I washed mine although the layers of dust are giving it a pleasingly antique quality. 🥴
Lovely image!

I'm sure The Bard would have penned it, if he'd had a car, Eric! There's something to be said for an antique quality; in fact, I gather you can buy paint which replicates the appearance of rust, which looks quite good on custom cars and, presumably, puts paid to washing for good. Thanks for the kind comment!
