Long leg of the law

By helenlinda
Yesterday ended our Health Week in school.
This encompasses a greater variety of activities each year we run it. The life caravan comes and each class has a work shop pitched at their level re- keeping healthy and safe. We also have a big focus on exercise and healthy eating.
As part of the week, the police dog handler brought his two dogs to talk to the children about how they support the police in keeping us safe.
Both of his dogs live with him and the children had many questions about what they eat, if they bite, could they stroke them, what drugs they find!!!
Actually he answered that question very well............he asked them which drugs they had heard about and gave them no more information than that.
When he said sit, he kept his foot on the lead initially to keep him in place. Hence my title.

I'm just uploading 2 of this dog and have chosen the one with the leg as v1 as they are very much a team and its a working relationship. So although v2 may be a better shot of the dog, to me v1 is best fit.

This will be my last upload for a few days as I will never get the gardening done unless I take a holiday from EPz...........I wonder how many days I will stick it out!!!

Thanks for C&C for yesterdays image. Stay safe if you are travelling and enjoy the Bank Holiday.
Helen

So what's tomorrows upload then Wink
Actually the garden does need doing. I think this dog was actually sent to your house to search for illegal immigrants in the undergrowth. I hear all they found was Ray Mears filming his new series Smile
Have a great weekend Helen.

The foot on the lead is a technique called 'parking' by some trainers.

The dog knows that when the foot is on the lead it has to lie or sit down, and is 'off duty' from further commands for the time being.

Wish I could train sniffer dogs... looks like fun.

I agree with your views on No 1.It tells more of a ''story''. No 2 is a bit out of context. Still a good dog capture tho'.

Love you #1 shot and the write up. Lovely to see dog and trainer in harmony as the dog awaits further instructions. The foot on the lead is crucial to the composition and makes a statement regarding the working relationship between the trainer and the dog. Excellent candid shot.
