Long Street

By devlin
I was going through some old shots when i came across this one. V1 is HDR tonemapped using Photomatix pro, then finished in CS5 for basic editing like crops and cloning etc.

V2 is the unedited version from which V1 was derived.

Feedback welcome as always. The scene is from Long Street in Cape Town.

The tone mapping isn't my cup of tea but, in both versions, I'd crop the empty foreground and the flat grey/white wall of the bookshop.

V2 is cuddlier. V1 is just cold.

I think the building is unusual and interesting, Prabh, especially the painted decoration, but also the graffiti, which is a bit of an eyesore, and yet interesting photographically.
What a difference the tonemapping makes, but I do wonder if you have gone a bit too far.
Compositionally, the building on the left looks architecturally decorative, and at the time of shooting, I think that more of it would have been preferable to the plain wall on the right. I also agree about a crop to the bottom. If you look at the top of your building, you will notice that the image needs a bit of straightening.
At first, I felt the car was intrusive, but the more I look at the image, the more I think it fits, and it's also fairly well placed.
