Looking Up I

By GavMc
This beautiful old building sits at the end of the Cours Saleya fruit and vegetable market in Nice.

I admire its grand majesty, the detail of its decorative sculpture and its symmetry.

What I like about this photo is the strength of the contrasts and colours and how these work together the deep blue sky, the weather worn yellow brickwork, and the sun beaten white wooden shutters. I also like the marginal asymmetry introduced by the second open window along the bottom.

This is my first Architecture post, so any feedback, good or bad would be great..

Cheers

The contrast between the two colours looks great. The only minor niggle concerns the top of those windows at the bottom - I think I'd have cropped them off.

Hi spaceman

I know what you're saying about the untidy bottom edge. I've uploaded a modifed version which looks a lot cleaner.

Cheers

Tried a small amount of tweaking on this one. I thought it was worth it, as it's a great architectural piece.

Love it though - all that detail on the windows and arches. Well spotted!

Why thank you Wink We get our skill from our father - or it's what he tells us Grin

No problem with the mod - I was just trying to see if I could bring out even more of that fine detail you'd captured so well.

I'd love to see any more architectural shots you take.

Cheers miss!

I'm doing a series on some shots I took in the Rockies a couple of years ago right now, but have another bunch of architecture ones I'm just itching to upload...

Just as well there's a one-a-day upload limit, we'd never do anything else! ;O)
