Robbie and I paid a visit to Maghull Photography Club the other day and by chance stumbled into a practical session, with a studio set up. It's years since we did any studio work so I enjoyed this opportunity and have been reasonably happy with some of my results.

In this one I have deliberately positioned the subject at the far right of frame, to complement the shadow area on the right side of her face.

I'd be interested to know what you think.

my initial thought was that you should have put the model on the left hand side of the frame so that the negative space is on her right of.
i understand you placed the model purposely on the rhs...
i would expect a bit more light on the left side of her face tough.
nice colours

Thanks for the feedback Robert. I'm not convinced a lhs position would work with a black background and the light being on the left of her face, but something to think about next time.

When you say the left of her face do you mean her left or the viewers? I wanted her right side to be in shadow but I understand that is personal preference. Smile

The positioning and idea works for me but I think I would have preferred a tiny bit more spill of light on to the rhs of her face. But as you say it's all personal preference
