Louisa Walking Trail

By TrevBatWCC
Heading onwards and upwards towards the city centre, I happened to look down and spotted this sticker on the pavement. I've seen a few more since seeing this around the centre, and curious to know what it's all about, did an internet search.
Louisa Fennell (1847-1930) was a famous but forgotten female artist from Wakefield who has been immortalised with a city centre walking trail. Louisa's watercolour paintings of Wakefield were created between 1898 & 1904 and boards showing her work (I have previously seen some of these on my travels) have been located across the city centre close to the spot which they depict, showing the changes between then and modern-day Wakefield – and things which have remained the same.
The version is courtesy of Google Maps and is a screenshot showing the trail. My image was taken of the pavement sticker indicated by the red arrow. Shall have to track down some of these boards when I go uptown shopping and grab some shots with the iPhone…
