Love hurts

By cbrundage
For a friend who lost, within less than a day, a beloved 12 year old dog and a 16 year old cat, both with age related ailments, and who had been with her their whole lives. And she is caring for another older cat who has cancer. As she said, “Love hurts.” But being the person she is, today she has taken in a puppy from a shelter who had either been thrown out of a car or run over, suffering many serious abrasions, and who was untended on the side of the road for 2 days.

Thanks so very much to Joline and Dave for the UAs.

Thank you so much, Joline! All her animals, 2 other older dogs and several cats, are all "discards". Living out in the country, she says people drive by and throw their animals out. The cat with cancer is the mother of the one that just died - the mother was tossed out just before she gave birth - my friend found homes for some of them but kept the two that had mild spina bifida. There is a special place in heaven waiting for her.

Many many thanks for the UA!

A perfect illustration for the circumstances.

The memories are still there to be loved and all power to your friend for the efforts in animal welfare.

The sheer mindless cruelty of some people shocks me to the core ... I just can't get my head around how anyone can be like that towards anything, let alone defenceless animals.

However, the hugeness of heart and the selfless love of people like your friend, who care enough to try and redress the balance, is a wonderful thing.

Thank you, Tanya, Peter and Nathan. I agree, Tanya, I just can't imagine what kind of person is so callous. But it looks like the new puppy will work out. One of her older dogs is being very attentive and looking after it. But she says the many open areas all over her body don't look good so I hope she continues to heal.

Thanks so much for the UA, Dave. I heard from her this morning - the new puppy is fitting into her household fine but she is worried about the injuries. The poor little puppy has so many areas where the skin was torn off.

Emotional and powerful image,.. a wonderful lady. I take my hat off to her... hope that 'time will heal the pain', as people always say so, it's hard, we know, that the scar never heals in heart.

Thanks, Jasmine - this new puppy of hers has been a gift from heaven because already she loves it so much and looking after its needs now takes her mind off things.
