Almost a monochrome painting . . . A Hardy-esque location . . . There is just something about it that I can't quite put in words . . .

Beautiful mono composition. Reminds me of the village where I spent my childhood.

Weardale can be remarkably gentle, pastoral. I like the way the human world is nestling safely in the valley. Everything else towering over it, hopefully with benign intent.
Oh dear, I need my breakfast...

Great use of the trees as a frame for what lies beyond.

Another fine example of why we should look closer to home and not jump in the car and drive for hours to find something to point the enquiring eye at.

You have a very good skill using the crop tool Alan, so many of us take a photograph and post the whole thing, when there is a jewel hidden to those who don't look close enough.

Going by some of the comments I think Tess has given up Dorset and moved North.

Your sensitive use of light and natural frame adds a very romantic look to this home. I'm a little puzzled by the upper right corner.

Brooding and powerful. The composition is brilliant as usual with the light touching the tree a nice touch.

Excellent image

The trees are either protecting or threatening the wee cottage. Judging by their age, I reckon they are of a protective mind.

intriguing, the trees are either protecting the house or rather frighteningly reaching out to those dark windows or it could be a lovley pastoral scene
