I like this image, it give a sense of isolation with the boat having an almost abandoned look about it on the beach, good light too.

A brilliant shot.

A touch under exposewd I think leading to a rather heavy image. The composition and idea are OK, but I wonder why you needed f22 when there is so little there that needs to ber sharp. I would have gone for f8 and a faster shutter speed with half to 1 stop more exposure.

I too was drawn to the image by its sence of isolation, but now I see you're asking for crit, so here goes:
You have some dust on your sensor that needs to be removed from the image.
Also perhaps it looks a little flat so I've done a mod.
Auto levels then lift shadows 15. added a layer>multiply, and then erased the two boats, murged down, dodged and burned that lovely sky to give it some drama, and water, and saturated 14.

I really like the image. Hope the mod helps.

Thanks, those comments are really helpful, and I like your modifications, Patricia. Out of interest, what program did you use to make the modifications? I only have Adobe Lightroom, and am reluctant to buy the full photoshop as it is so expensive, but I do like the changes you've made so would be interested to know what you used.
Thanks
Louise

I use an old adobe photoshop, cs2
I don't know lightroom, but if it has a layers menu then the same mod should work.
It's a lovely image, you have a good eye.

Hi Louise,
Your composition works well but the image is a bit flat, it was a difficult day as there was very little interesting light, but you can improve it by a bit more processing of the image - this can be done in lightroom you do not need PS. I am at work at the mo but when I get home this evening I will do one for you.

Thanks very much for all your comments and suggestions. I've uploaded my own modification, edited using lightroom. Frank, I liked the topaz filter, but Kate's right, the weather was pretty miserable, so I don't want to make it look as though it was a beautiful clear day! I'm trying to strike a balance between remaining true to the original image, not overworking it, and at the same time not ending up with such a flat picture. I hope this is a bit better.

I like the mod very much Louise, it adds that bit of oomph and is probably more true to what you saw a felt at the time of taking the shot.. which is the whole point.
