Hello, Anthony. I've had a peek at your website and see that you are doing a photography course and that you like photographing gigs. I have to say that you seem to capture the atmosphere and action of the groups you photograph extremely well, and it's obvious that you know what you are doing. There are times when you need to consider your composition a bit more, but I admire the way you handle the difficult lighting conditions. In this image, I appreciate that you probably wanted the drummer in the frame, but this has been to the detriment of the guitarist, who is far too much to the left. His expression is great, though. I think you can only go from strength to strength if you just give your composition some thought, Anthony. I wanted to give you something else to think about and wonder if you have editing software. There are numerous effects you could add to your gig shots. I started with different hues, having removed your framing. In my first mod, I used enamel effect. My second has posterizing added. My third is called "feedback", a reflection effect, and my 4th is the same effect with a different angle. A bit of fun.

The angst, the angst! It just comes across as phoney to me I'm afraid, whether it is or not i obviously don't know but that is somebody 'being a guitarist' because that's what guitarists 'do'. Look at me I'm suffering for my art etc etc etc. OK its all part of the show but it's bo**ocks isn't it?
But I'm just a grumpy old man and a bass player. . .
Better?

Ahhhh fair point. But in the guitarists defence, 2 bands dropped out so Lower Than Atlantis played a 2 hour set list and i captured this towards the end of the set. So im rather surprised this picture comes across as 'phoney' in any way.

Sorry to sound more negative than I intended. The pic is good, nothing wrong with it at all. i just expressed a weary sigh at the guitarist. Good on him and his band for stepping in and playing a two hour set anyway. Obviously, he can writhe and grimace for all he's worth whenever he sees fit. Don't mind me, i just roll my eyes, but as I said,
I'm just a grumpy old git. Apologies. Jon

If you'd turned a few inches to your left when you'd taken this, you'd have a winner here.

As it stands, shame you cut off the top of the guitar and the guitarist's knee. Using a lens with a slow aperture and flash like you have done has meant the drummer is too dark to really be a feature in the image, so in my opinion, you'd have been better making sure he was properly in shot.
