Lunar Craters

By starman1
Taken Sunday morning around 1:00 AM (7:00 GMT) with the Moon approximately 20 degrees off the horizon. I was observing with an Orion 100 mm refractor (600 mm focal length) and had a 2" Knight Owl 2X Barlow in front of my 2" diagonal while using a 2" Meade 26 mm QX eyepiece. Camera hand held to eyepiece. Cropped with minor sharpening, otherwise this is straight out of the camera.

seems like I`m the only one to appreciate this.
I didn`t understand a word of the tech details but I think this is great.

Excellent result - I've tried this myself and it is not at all easy! Need to dust off my telescope - we're living in an apartment in the middle of town at the moment and it hasn't been easy to make use of it. But this is motivating me to do so!

Thanks Everyone,

I appreciate the kind comments, and thanks for getting the ball rolling dougieboy.

Hope ya'll get the chance to watch the Perseid Meteor shower this weekend.

Hi Chris,
The nice thing about the Moon for these types of shots is that a dark site is usually not necessary, getting the focus tweaked just right without an infinity stop is the toughest part.

Nice one Dewey.
It's been a while since I last stopped by and looked at your portfolio.
I'll be back later to see what else you have to to delight me.
