Lunch 126

By SimonFletch
Greetings everyone and thank you for your Votes and Comments on 'Lunch 125 - The Kori Bustard' - with a special mention going to Bob , for his coveted User Award. Bob, along with others, described the Bustard as "beautiful". Other descriptions of the bird varied between "amazing", "handsome", "in fine shape", "superb", "impressive" --- and one who said "he's quite ugly...". 'Beauty' - is definitely in the eye of the beholder..?!

Seemingly, I got into a lot of trouble, due to the fact the "beautiful, amazing, handsome, superb and impressive bird, who is in fine shape" - was eating a lizard..! Well, that's wildlife, folks. Imagine the state of the place, if some birds didn't eat a few lizards. There'd be lizards everywhere. All round your feet, climbing up your legs and wriggling their way into your "marks 'n' spencers". Now then, aren't you in the least bit grateful for birds like this "beautiful (etc...) Bustard"...?!! Wink Grin

And Jeff, you crack me up SmileSmileSmile "Interesting that he feels he needs to show off his rear end whilst deciding what to have for lunch....a treat often reserved for the queue in BHS!!! SmileGrinTongue"

Today's 'Lunch'
I had a root around, to see if I could find an image of a Monitor Lizard, eating Bird's Eggs, to see if all the Lizard Loving EPZers still felt the same way about Lizards. Sadly, I couldn't find it - and thought I was in enough trouble anyway - so how about a female Purple Grenadier, eating grass seed ...?!

From the sublime, to the ridiculously small - The Purple Grenadier (Uraeginthus ianthinogaster) is a fairly common bird of the Finch family, found in Kenya below 2200 metres, except in arid areas. Length is 5.25" (13cm). It feeds on the ground, in bushy areas and thickets, on seeds. It is found in pairs or small groups.

V2 is my offering for Saturday Shadows Wink

Have a Sublime Saturday, everyone ...!

What a beautifully made up bird, beautifully captured in these two shots. I just love that eye shadow and lippy combo. I will replicate that style today. It is always such fun frightening the natives!!!

Thank you Simon for the award on the Clevedon Pier photo yesterday, and please forgive me for saying that the bird yesterday was quite ugly! its a wonder you are still speaking to me!
Todays shot, this bird is so lovely, gorgeous colours and great plumage shown in the photo. V2 is a smasher for Saturday with the grass seed across his body.
