Lunching Water Vole

By Glostopcat
I paid a visit to Slimbridge yesterday and despite it being foggy and misty for the first hour or two I was there, it did brighten up and there was a spell of hazy sunshine by lunchtime. I was extremely fortunate to catch sight of this little fellow just before I left to return home, he was close to the bridge that crosses the stream leading to the willow hide and the Holden Tower to those who are familiar with Slimbridge. This water vole was eating his lunch of some fresh green leaves when I spotted him and he did not appear to be bothered that I was in such close proximity to him. Within a couple of minutes there were a group of around six photographers watching his every move and snapping away at him. He stayed in full view for more than ten minutes before jumping into the water and swimming off upstream to go about his daily business. In the absence of "Gentleman Adventurer" Simon Fletcher, I thought i'd make a contribution to his lunch series to satisfy all those members like Alex Appleby, NDODS, Mikbee and CarolG who are struggling to get by without a daily upload from their lunch guru!WinkGrin I hope this cute little chap fills your Fletch Fix for todaySmile

Very well done, glad to see you are ready to step up to the plate in Simon's absence! Very fond of the lunch series, and would be a contributor myself, but unfortunately I don't have a spare minute at the moment to post anything! Have a great weekend, looks like it's going to be another good one weather wise!

A good capture to end your day at Slimbridge Ed. I have yet to get a decent shot of one of these cute little chaps. I don't know about this filling of Simons shoes much - your own shoes seem pretty well filled to me. A
Good sharp shot of "Ratty". Great capture.
