Lyveden New Bield IMG_6208

By StevenJLewis
Lyveden New Bield with some Photoshop editing to brighten the building. Cropped to remove some foreground. Is the building too small? Should I edit so the tree is not so dark?

I have done a bit more cropping and a slight adjustment hue/saturation and that is all. I wasn't sure which was going to be the focal point as there are two, the house and the tree, they both call for attention. Still, have a look and see what you think.

Hi Steven,

the mod I've done is a quick job so there are ragged edges and it's a little overdone to illustrate possibilities.

I think your shot is a good starting point but, if this crop is to be used, it needs more impact to direct the eye to the building, which is the main focal point afterall.

The shot's a little flat and needs selective lightening and contrast. The building needs more light as does the f/g grass so it doesn't become a bland area.

I slightly darkened and added contrast to the sky so the building really stood out and created more drama in the clouds.

I lightened the tree selectively so the leaves stood out more and adds interest to the right side of the photo.

I think this could be seen on a front cover as there is enough space around the building to add headings and other typography. It just needs some quality post-processing then send it offSmile

This is only an opinion and not meant to offend.

Mod 1 is a very great improvement. You image is rather flat and reflecting the heavy sky. It does need a contrast lift to boost things. I would have preferred a little less sky and foreground.

This is all good feedback, thank you.
re copyright/name on images published online (any site), I suspect my photos will never be worth stealing but by putting my name in an unobtrusive corner it means someone will have to deliberately crop or clone to remove it, so if I do find an image that overlays to my image pixel-for-pixel in the rest of the image then the removal of copyright text indicates a deliberate act. That's when the baseball bat comes outSmile. I wouldn't want to display a really low res image instead.

A lovely capture of this photogenic 'ruin'.
From my home county, I know it well.
