Macro Monday

By LynneJoyce
I'm purloining a day of the week again making today Macro Monday in order to post these images taken whilst testing the ring flash that I had nearly wrecked by leaving batteries in (oops).

Some of these are my first attempts at using manual focus, not something that I am confident with as I wear glasses and can't trust my eyesight. However, I gave it a try and I am pleased with the results. They are all hand held, almost all straight shots but just one 'painting' sneaked in.

The flowers are an unbirthday gift from my friend Rita, given because I have a December birthday and somehow it always gets sidelined, forgotten or overtaken by events. It is her belief that everybody with a December birthday should be able to nominate an official birthday in the middle of the year. I'll go with that and for mine I have nominated July 6th as that is my husband's birthday so it can never be forgotten.

Thank you for looking. I hope that you like at least some of these. If you do please tell me and tell me why.

P.S. be careful not to throw away blurred shots automatically. One that I took in this session proved perfect as the faux mounting board for several shots.

An excellent set of images presented so beautifully and so well co-ordinated.
It is very difficult to choose a 'favourite'.
I love the ones with 'full detail' as in V2 but I love, even more, the ones with selective focusing!
Superb macro work, Lynne.

2 birthdays ..... now that is something else......
Loved them all till no15.. those colours just jarred at me even though you cleverly fazed in the border...
but thats just me and colour
I also cant take photos I want when wearing my glasses... dreading the time when I can no longer wear contacts

The delicacy of some of those colours are truly striking, a great set of images, no favourite today, definitely wouldn't want to make that choice.

Macro Monday - I like that idea.
Another accomplished set Lynne with your lovely presentation frames.
I do like the selective focussing with V9 and V3 my top favourites, followed by V8,5 and 2.
I'm not keen on the distracting table cover? in V4 but think V15 is a srong artistic image but maybe
needs the plate more blurred?

Some true macros in this gathering-- quite impressive for hand held work---
I am most taken with v2 and similar images, I like the flower as taken and your choice of processing---unexpected treasures!

one small niggle-- the red part of the last image seems out of place.

KUDOS for this grand collection!

As someone who has forgotten what I had for breakfast this morning Lynne,I find it hard to remember all these birthdays and such like for the year.
I have no problem remembering my wedding anniversary as it is the 5th of July.It is perhaps ironic that it is one day after American Independence Day so that is how I remember that one.And I shall remember you ''new'' birthday as it is one day after my anniversary. How simple life would be if everyone had their birthday on the same day. That would be that done and dusted with and no problems with anyone forgetting. And if you got a rubbish present from someone you could always pass it on to someone else !!
I had a favourite pic from your set but I have forgot the number of it and can't be bothered going through them all again. It was the one that looked like a red tongue sticking out from the bottom of the frame. It has some tattooed lettering on it and they are sucking a big red Smartie !!

Macro Monday. A great idea, and one which you have grasped by the proverbial tripod and ran with. A superb series of high quality images, which have all been very well worked, processed and presented. Hard to pick a favourite as there is quality in numbers Lynne.

V8 is my favourite, Lynne.
Well, we have Shadows Saturday, Silly Sunday, Chilli Tuesday and now perhaps Macro Monday. That's OK for you peeps who upload every day, and I suspect that it's a lot of fun, when out and about, finding pictures to fit the bill, but not easy for those of us who don't. Chilli Tuesday is still making me smile because we say "Chewsday".

Lol...No. 15 is SO you with the Le Creuset GrinGrin That one's my favourite here.

This is an utterly gorgeous set, Lynne, and I like the idea of Macro Monday. Very good idea about the birthday too, actually.

Now of course I love the macros in the odd numbers...especially V9. Very inspiring. But I really like the shots in Vs 2, 4 and 8 too...V2 being the WOW one. So beautiful.

Very impressive that these were handheld AND manual focus for some. So cool you have a ring flash too. Are these the first shots I've seen with your macro lens? MORE!

Superbly done, Lynne. Since I don't know anything about abstract, I'll leave them to the others. I do like the colour of the blur-ish ones. I like the V2's background;V4's DOF; V6's border; V15 is very interesting and creative shot.. added on something interesting... great set.
