Another beautiful flower from Madeira - we saw many of these in gardens and the wild.

Any ideas for its name would be appreciated.

Yes, they are called the 'Pride of Madeira', Echium fastuosum (or something like that), they grow like weeds in coastal California. They bloomed here in February. I'm not sure why this did not get more attention, because it is a good shot. But once I uploaded a flower shot like this when I first started EPZ and got 1 vote.

Thanks Patrick - we saw them along the coast too, in huge clumps. Thanks for your comments - never mind - architecture next week perhaps, as I'm off to Madrid for a few days.
