Maen Mawr

By dasantillo
Maen Mawr is a standing stone in the Brecon Beacons, Wales.

Aside from better lighting, any suggestions on how I could improve this shot?

I would definitely use a polariser to enhance the soft clouds, and position the stone slightly more to the right. Also I would under expose the grasses by one or two stops to enhance the tones and set your white balance to cloudy. The information will be recorded and you can always tone down..not up.
A lovely shot and plenty of potential.Never be afraid to take shots in cloudy conditions as there is always something to work on.

Tom, thanks. Take a look at the second variant. Too much or about right?

Edit: Forgot to say that I was using a polariser.

Version 2 is about right exposure-wise in my opinion but the central composition doesn't look right to me.
All the best

..a couple of hikers in the background on the lhs, one with a red anorak on, would be the only other improvement I could suggest Smile
