Lovely capture - good exposure and great expression.

Can I ask where you were to get this? It's official, I guess, as you were in a great position.

(sorry for my naivety - you're a pro, I assume :o/)

Lovely mono image, the expression and the lighting is great. The background is nicely out of focus

Hi Rudi,

Hope this doesn't keep you awake too long tonight!

Kyd, yes I was in a good position behind the brass section for this concert.

It's not just Rudi! I haven't played for five years and it still makes me go funny! lol!

It's a shame that I wasn't interested in photography when I was playing - it would have been a wonderful companion.

Hi Kyd,

What, when, where???

I would say this is a perfect B&W. Love those images you take of famous conductors from a priviledged position.

Simon - not pro, though my first paid job was in a pit orchestra at 13! Still makes me laugh!

A bit of pro-am freelance stuff in London and Oxford during my teens and twenties - not many trombones around so lots of work, some paid, some not.

Didn't pursue it as a full career for various reasons. Some good, some not! ;o)

Excellent study Simon. The 3rd is my favourite Sibelius symphony.

Hi Jouko,

Thanks for the link.
He is a great musician and the Philharmonia should suit him perfectly.
Thanks again for all your support.

Great stuff, Simon. I love how you've just managed to get an impression of the audience in the gloom...

Simon, this is a great shot! It's intriguing and entertaining to read the dialogue above - isn't EPZ a great forum for more than photography!

I like how everything is so sharp, and then there is a touch of motion in the hand. Excellent. Especially under these lighting conditions.
