Magpie Mine Milky Way

By jamesgrant
This is Magpie Mine near Sheldon. Looking at the map it seemed fairly promising for dark skies and I thought the subject would be interesting.

I had never been before, so walking around in the dark trying to find a spot to compose from was fun. However, due to the relative low height of the area the light pollution on the horizon was quite strong and the skies not incredibly dark.

Not to worry, I still like the shot for the composition, interest and I think the night sky suits the location well.

A lovely shot with fine composition. The light pollution actually adds something, so I won't worry too much.

The light pollution is not distracting, it's a subtle colouration of the sky. The main interest, the Milky Way, is perfectly clear, well captured. Job done!
