maine #8

By handlerstudio

In the background, the St. Johns River and Canada. A shallow river that forms the border in eastern and northern Aroroostook Countly. Easy to wade across the border for those fleeing oppression in the US to Canada. It used to be that all one needed was a driver's license to cross back and fourth between these two countries, now a passport. And "our" president insults the Canadian premier.

The "Valley" is a fascinating and beautiful place with loads of local speech patterns and customs. When young people go to college up in Fort Kent they actually have to take a language class to learn the vernacular. A proud and industrious people live here.
Beautiful scenery, very well photographed, Peter.
