Make do and mend 2

By HelenaJ
Dear all,

Thank you for your helpful comments and suggestions on my previous recent downloads. Here is the final version of the panel that I have been working on. You will see that I have reshot the fruit and made many suggested changes so I think this is good enough. Love to hear what you think of this version. Helena

That looks like a first rate panel to me.

Cracking shot !!.....what a significant improvement over the previous version....the lighting now adds
some sparkle, with more 'roundness' & depth of colour & textures; ....the 3 exposures are now spot on
with impressive clarity almost 3D ??.......impressive piece of work Helena !!.Smile

You're pretty handy with a needle & thread too I see !!!!!!!!!.WinkGrinGrinGrinGrin

Nicely done. To be very picky, I would re align the centre panel so that late backgrounds exits on the right in line with the right side panel.

That refines a good idea great deal!

I wonder if a bit of tonal lifting with Levels would take it further up the scale - almost high key, though without losing subtlety or colour...

I think this is very good indeed. I know that we have seen the earlier version, but I have to praise the originality and creative vision here. I like to imagine the process that led to the work. Only one niggle, the frame on the right is slightly lower than the others. When I work with this format I always turn on the grid in P.S.
Impressive work.

Wonderfully creative set here, I like this one and the spontaneity of the previous one.

As others have commented above, a significant improvement all round - well done for having a second attempt and for taking on board advice!
I hope you have more of these original ideas in your head!

This is more than 'make do', it's spot-on, Helena! I like the lace matches up to that in the next image 👍

This looks so much better, Helena, and I think the lemon agrees with me (looks as if it's smiling).

Well reworked Helena, just align the lace on the right as has been mentioned.

Just in case you're interested at the local club Panel Competition this didn't really impress the judge. He said nothing about creativity or subject matter, he didn't say it made him think or liked the composition. All he said was the colour works but the subjects don't really relate to each other... he favoured photos of trains and birds. What can I say! Somewhat frustrated Smile

As I've jsut written on your bottle triptych - judges should carry health warnings. If he likes trains and birds, you need either to pander to his taste, or accept you're on a hiding to nothing...

A different judge would go the opposite way, maybe.
