They end up fighting to the death if one kingfisher invades another ones territory. Stunning capture.

Thank you for all your comments, they were fighting for ages. The female would not let it rest at one stage they were tangling from a perch as she had hold of his beak. They then flew into the water where I thought one was going to die but eventually the male got away. I think he was an intruder & she already had a mate. I have to say it was a great mornings photography, well worth getting cold for. Jenny
