Man Machine

By JuBarney
This wonderful mechanical puppet of a Cornish miner is over 10m high (the highest ever in UK) and came to Lostwithiel last evening. The engineers built him as a reminder that Cornwall is a Unesco world heritage site, awarded 10 years ago.

We were lucky as the drizzle held off - not like today when he is at St Austell. He unfolds from a low loader and can walk, but didn't last night as there wasn't enough space, but he can move his head, arms and legs, and when he opens and shuts his eyes it is surreal, especially when they have smoke billowing around him. He is so good I hope to go and see him at St Agnes later this week.

Nothing compared to the tourists!!! There are road closures so people can see it but that is all.
