Manhole Cover

By woolybill1
A reminder of a trip to Whitby sometime last year. I'm not sure where I hid the original, but V2 has been substantially played with. V1 has almost been un-played with, in that the 'sepia' effect was achieved by converting the played-with version to mono and applying a very faint tint.

18mm, 1/250th sec. @ f11, ISO 200.

I do prefer the played with version Bill.It could be an ''original'' drying out after a bit of rain.It has that look about it.Good stoney, gritty detail.A fine piece of work.

V2 seems to suit this one better. The mono version doesn't seem to bring out the detail as well.

Mono wins again. It usually does in my book.

Looking at the pattern on the outside it looks a emblem or badge or some sort, looks good

I do like the colour of the iron (or whatever) in V2, though the surrounding stone is a little less convincing... Great subject, nicley done! Carol

I saw a giant tractor wheel on viewing #1 initially and then switched to #2 and it was our old telephone assigned a new job and answering the question of which came first, the contrete or the cover.
Great work with the processing bringing out the textures and the details (except the fag end Sad ); and colour for me

Watcha Bill,
nice bit of abstraction. Prefer the B&W, although both excellent. Reminds me of a picture by Roger Hicks in his B&W Photography, this was a square cover and in N.Y. similar treatment though, bumping up contrast etc.
